Early 19th century Cotswold country fire surround of Painswick fine grained limestone. Painswick is regarded as a special high quality stone because its fine, dense composition allows for the making of crisp carving and detail.
There is some damage to the internal moulding; a fact reflected in the price.
Made up of 5 pieces of stone plus a stripped pine mantle shelf that measures 111 cm wide x 12.5 cm deep x 2 cm thick.
When installed, the top right hand corner of moulded detail can be set back so it is flush. ( For setting up the fireplace simply for a photograph it was not possible to place this in its original position)
overall height 100 cm
overall width of surround 108 cm
internal height 83 cm x internal width 76 cm
