A few years ago artist and designer Jane Knapp flew to Funchal on Madeira, where she spent her time sketching and painting exotic plants in the tropical gardens. This trip produced a full sketchbook, some vivid impressions of the island's flora and now these botanically inspired lights .
Each unique light has been hand-made to resemble the leaf's natural form, and by hand-beating Jane has recreated the contours that evolved to channel rainwater to the plant's roots.
A clear glass bead on the larger pieces represents the element of water so vital to all life.
